Wembley Park

The redevelopment of Wembley Park in London is continuing with the construction of new rental properties in an area that will known as Canada Gardens. Quintain, the developer, awarded the construction contract to Sisk.

Canada Gardens is a £211 million project and it will comprise of 743 build to rent homes across seven buildings. Of those homes, 303 will be London Housing Bank equivalent units and will be rented out at no more than 80% of market value, keeping it consistent with the London Plan threshold for intermediate affordable housing.

The new homes will be managed by Tipi, Quintain’s build to rent business. The two and three bed units will appeal to families and they include shared facilities, including a play area and a new park with activities for children. Pet owners are also being catered for with a special dog walking area and pet garden.

As part of the construction phase, Quintain asked Hoard-it to provide them with a site hoarding solution. The team supplied hoarding products which includes 400LM of timber hoarding panels with site graphics solution. Quintain wanted to be able to communicate site safety on the graphics, as well as key message through powerful images.

Quintain are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in delivery and with an excellent health and safety record. The construction site hoarding played an important role in both protection the public and labour on site.

Sisk were engaged the designers early on in the process which allowed them to use different techniques to save time and create a better working environment for everyone on site. Throughout the project this included using prefabricated bathroom pods, which were delivered to site and then installed.

Despite the latter part of the project coinciding with the global covid pandemic, Canada Gardens is expected to be successfully handed over, within budget and on time. All organisations on site coordinated to implement covid protocols that allowed work to progress, with protecting the health of all contractors on site.
