Princes Quay Street

HULL

The Princes Quay Bridge is part of a planned £18m construction project in Hull to improve the local area and transport network. Awarded to Interserve Construction, the Highways England project involves the construction of a new bridge which will link the marina with the southern end of Princes Dock. This will make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the A63.

It is the first phase of the Castle Street improvements scheme. The bridge will reunite the marina with the city centre, which is a key element of the long term regeneration plans for the city.

The Roger Millward roundabout expansion, also part of this project, involves adding an extra lane through the middle of the roundabout to reduce congestion.

The Princes Quay Bridge has been designed to encourage further development around the waterfront, which is an important part of Hull’s future plans. Before work begins on the bridge, Hull’s historic ship, the Spurn Lighthouse, will be moved by local marine specialists. Once the bridge is complete it will be relocated to its permanent home on the marina.

Interserve Construction as Hoard-it to supply them with an extensive site hoarding solution. The team supplied over 530 LM of hoarding panels which included 4 x 6 metre vehicles gates, 1 x 4 metre gate, 2 x pedestrian gates and a site graphics solution for the hoarding panels. This allowed them to display branded information from Highways England about the project, as well as a visual representation of the finished project.

Artwork from local school children about Hull was also used on some of the graphics panels, looking at the city through the eyes of local children.

Once these two project are completed, it will then prepare the way for the Castle Street scheme which will upgrade a significant stretch of the A63.
