The Tempest

LIVERPOOL

The Tithebarn Street building in Liverpool, now called the Tempest, has been acquired by Capital and Centric and is going to be renovated to turn it into a hub for entrepreneurs.

Derelict for several years, the 40,000 square foot building will receive a £6 million refurbishment, which in part has been funded by a grant from the European Regional Development Fund. Liverpool has one of the lowest rates of participation in enterprise per capita, and the goal is to attract new and exciting businesses to the region.

Hoard-it were asked by Capital and Centric to provide a no dig hoarding solution for the Tithebarn Street building. They also requested that we provide a site graphics solution, so that the timber hoarding panels could include interchangeable message boards. The graphics boards were designed to be changed as the project progressed. This made them an ideal advertising opportunity, whilst also being cost effective and sustainable.

The hoarding solution we deployed were 5mm PVC foam panels that are recyclable and secured to the hoarding line ,via the inner and outer uprights clamping the panels in place in front of the ply boards.

To further complement Capital and Centric’s corporate image, the outer steels were powder coated black. The result was a cost effective, aesthetically pleasing hoarding solution.

The building, being renamed from 12 Tithebarn to Tempest, will be keeping its industrial feel, to create a welcoming environment for young entrepreneurs. The goal is to create an unconventional workspace in a central location to attract new and high growth businesses in new sectors.

Features of the Tempest include free meeting rooms and informal collaborate workspaces, on site car parking with electric charge points, high speed WiFi, a dedicated café and BREEAM workspaces, with energy efficient lighting and natural light to create a healthy and relaxing environment. With great bus routes and being located close to Moorfields train station, Tempest is in an excellent central location.
