Wates Group was hired by Teesside University to construct, BIOS, its new state-of-the-art facility at the heart of the Middlesbrough campus. It will provide cutting-edge new laboratories for the sciences and clinical subjects. As part of the construction phase of this project Hoard-it was chosen to supply solid timber hoarding panels with printed panels, vehicle and a pedestrian gate on this project.
BIOS is a £35m facility at the heart of Teesside University’s campus, offering high-quality, leading-edge laboratories for the sciences and clinical subjects including anatomy, pharmacy, microbiology, chemistry, Earth sciences and food sciences.
The development forms part of the university’s dynamic Campus Masterplan, which has already seen £275m of investment to date, which have transformed the university campus and the town of Middlesbrough.
The BIOS facility will include specialist equipment to enable new and interactive forms of learning for core health and allied health provision. This includes a growing postgraduate medical offer. Key features of the facility will include innovative technology for digital teaching, facilities to support the ongoing development of Occupational Therapy degrees, a range of new life science laboratories, which will support key subjects that are important to the region, including pharmaceutical science, human biology and biomedicine. These and other purpose-built facilities will enable the university to provide modern, flexible and digitally-enabled learning spaces to train the next generation of health professionals.
As part of the construction phase, Hoard-it supplied 272LM of solid hoarding panels with printed panels, 23LM with headers and kickers plus 2 vehicle gates and 1 pedestrian gates on this project. Work on the university project included contract hire, installation of the site hoarding panels, dismantling and temporary works design.
