BAM Bradford College
The new Bradford College is being constructed by BAM Leeds, and asked Hoard-it to install site hoarding panels for this high profile project. We installed 250 LM of timber hoarding. This was adjusted as the installation progressed to suite BAM’s adaptations of the original layout. The project was completed in 5 days.
The new five storey building will welcome five hundred 16-19 year old students when it is completed. Funding for the £19 million project was secured by Bradford City Council’s from the government. The New Collaborative Learning Trust selected BAM Construction as they have a longstanding track record of construction with education projects. The Trust are post-16 specialists who with with 3,000 students across two other colleges in Pontefract and Doncaster.
The Trust is engaging with the whole community to make sure that every young person in the area has the opportunity to experience high quality education. This has included education leaders, parents, faith groups and community leaders. The college building is just one part of the planning work going on behind the scenes. The new college will offer roughly 50 different courses, with more A-levels than any other provider in the Bradford region. Ensuring that the curriculum offer matches the needs of Bradford’s young people and its industries is an essential part of the planning process.
Young people in Bradford will have the opportunity to study at a sixth form college offering over 30 A level and 15 vocational BTEC courses, taught by specialist post-16 teachers. The College will have a strong focus on STEM subjects such as engineering, maths and the sciences, all of which will help students access Higher Education courses and careers in these subjects.
Hoard-it have also provided construction hoarding on a number of different education projects across the UK. We were delighted to work with BAM Construction again on Bradford College, and are pleased to hear what a positive impact it will have on the community.
