Birdworld, in Farnham, Surrey, owned by the Haskins Group and located on the same site as Forest Lodge Garden Centre, is being redeveloped into a year round destination with a multi-million project.
The conservation park, which first opened in 1968, has been involved with rehoming wild birds, providing a safe place for exotic birds, protecting threatened species and promoting conservation by building a strong connection to nature through education and entertainment.
The park is home to over 1,000 birds across 181 species, also has an expansive breeding program, plus support for endangered species. It also partners with global initiatives connected to habit restoration, educational outreach through schools, as well as working with local communities to encourage participation in restoring nature. All of these projects make Birdworld more than just a visitor attraction for families. In addition to changes to the park for visitors, the investment will allow them to upgrade private facilities to improve their breeding programmes.
Over the decades the park has expanded a number of times and this will be the largest ever. In the future, the 26 acre park will include a forest area where families will have a chance to play and learn, an indoor 1,500 square foot café and play area, with a large weatherproof area for young children. The large indoor play zone will be filled with slides, tunnels and birdhouses on multiple levels, as well as a toddler zone and a soft play area.
Hoard-it are proud to support the main contractor, Balfour Beatty, on this project and we provided them with an on-site hoarding solution. Our team successfully installed 187 linear meters of hoarding panels, along with two vehicle gates. This ensured that there was secure site access, while maintaining safety and protection for all visitors to the park.
