B&K Stay City York
Stay City offers services apartments in central locations and their latest expansion was in York. As part of the Stay City Apartments project in York, Bowmer and Kirkland asked Hoard-it to supply a flexible hoarding solution.
Situated on the main inner ring road, next to the Barbican, speed of installation with minimal disruption in the area was a key requirement. Bowmer and Kirkland also requested a no dig hoarding solution. Given the central location, paramount for this project was the safety of the general public for the duration of construction. They required a quality Temporary Works compliant system that would stay standing throughout the duration.
A simple feature of our site hoarding solution is that Hoard-it supplied timber hoarding panels with full wind calculations in mind. An added advantage was the corporatisation of the boards which were pre painted at our depot and ensuring Bowmer and Kirkland’s branding was present from the start.
We also supplied and installed the signage boards with the Stay City graphics included, so that the client and anyone in the area would be made aware of what was being built.
The Stay City complex features 197 serviced apartments with fully equipped kitchens and dining rooms/lounges, with two retail units on the ground floor. The six-storey building is located next to the York Barbican, next to the Roman City Wall and just five minutes’ walk from central York. It was built in the site of a former swimming pool which was previously demolished. Tourism organisation Visit York believes the services apartments will help promote York to the family market who are often looking for quality and good value for money.
Stay City is a growing company that now has 4,000 serviced apartments in multiple European cities. The Stay City in York will create 40 full and part-time jobs and it features a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with a café, lounge area, gym, guest laundry, car park, and locker room.
